The Humane Society is a non-profit organization that relies entirely on donations to help the homeless pets of San Antonio. In addition to a constant need for monetary donations, the Humane Society could also use the following items.



Our Top 6 Wish List Items...

1. Canned Dog Food: A little bit of flavor in the food always helps! This also helps entice dogs who do not eat enough dry food.

2. Treats (for dogs, puppies, cats and kittens): We always need these!

Daily Needs...

HEB Plastic Bags: For picking up poop in the yards and on campus.

Newspaper: For lining animal cages.

Paper Towels: For quick clean ups.

Bleach: We bleach all our dirty laundry to make sure it is clean.

Powdered laundry detergent: To clean blankets, towels, and food dishes.

Bounce Dryer Sheets

Trash Bags (kitchen and liner trash bags): We use these every day to dispose of soiled newspaper from the cages.

Sponges (all sizes): For cleaning the shelter animal bowls and dishes.

Anti-Bacterial Dish Soap: For cleaning the shelter animal bowls and dishes.

Hand Sanitizer: To help prevent cross contamination.

Windex: To clean the building windows and visiting rooms.



Medical/Veterinary Supplies

Otoscope for examining animal ears

Latex Gloves (Large, medium & small): Used for cleaning soiled cages, soiled laundry and for medical purposes.

Cotton Balls: To clean the animals' ears and for other medical needs.

Q-Tips: Also used to clean the animals' ears.

Gauze Pads

Digital thermometers (NEW ONLY) with covers: It is important to take the animal's temperature to make sure it is healthy. Disposable covers prevent cross contamination.

Rubbing Alcohol

Puppy milk replacement: You can buy it at HEB or any grocery store.

Kitten milk replacement: You can buy it at HEB or any grocery store.

Eyedroppers: For feeding newborns.

Band Aids (all sizes)

Puppy & Kitten Bottles: We use these for our neonatal orphans to help feed them.

Kennel Supplies

Dog & Cat Toys: To entertain and amuse our dogs and cats while they are in our care.

Dog & Cat Beds: Beds for the pets to sleep in or relax in.

Canned Dog Food: A little bit of flavor in the food always helps! This also helps entice dogs who do not eat enough dry food.

Stainless Steel Food & Water Bowls: To feed and provide water for our hungry and thirsty animals.

Large Blankets and Comforters: Used to provide softer bedding for the dogs and puppies to sleep and relax on.

Can Openers (electric and manual): We open many cans of food every day!

Large and X-Large Crates: For transportation purposes, and to help the shelter animals with housebreaking and separation anxiety.

Distilled Water: Used for steam cleaning the cages to prevent cross contamination.

Pet Leashes (slip leashes): Used to walk the dogs.

Digital Cameras: To take pictures of our animals to enhance our website adoptions.

Grooming Supplies (Shampoo/Conditioner/Brushes, etc for dogs, cats, puppies and kittens): All our animals are bathed and groomed before release into the shelter.

Holiday Decorations: To decorate the adoption lobby at holidays to lift the spirits of our many volunteers, staff and visitors!

Mavron Vehicles: We use our vehicles every day to transport our animals to outreach events and veterinarians, and for rescues, etc. These particular vehicles have built-in cages which make it easier to transport animals from one location to another.
